The day couldn’t have been more beautiful – the sky was bright blue, there wasn’t a cloud and the air was crisp and cool. It was a perfect day to enjoy the off-season at LBI. It was also a great day for the Komen Race for the Cure.
Showing my dedication and upholding the support of my donors, I made my way from Long Beach Island, where Charlie and I were staying, to Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson. I was disappointed to find out that the race was no longer a “sanctioned” event and was not officially timed. It turns out it was also only 3.87 kilometers long as measured by my RunKeeper app. So I can’t give you my 5K time, but can tell you that I was running a pace that would have had me finish in under my 35 min goal (I have lowered my bar as I have gotten older!)
A big THANK YOU to all of you who supported my run by donating to this important cause. I value every one of you and can’t tell you how much I appreciate your generosity. I have updated my photo to one taken after the race. You can see my glow of success, my Komen Race for the Cure bib and the gorgeous fall day at the beach that I enjoyed after my return.
